Next Pack Event

Our next Pack event is our July Movie Night. It will be 7/13 at 8pm in the Family Life Center.

In honor of it being on Friday the 13th, our movie will be a double feature of Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Just kidding! We will be watching a kid-friendly movie. Popcorn and drinks will be served. Bring your chairs!

USS Yorktown Campout

We have confirmed the date for the Yorktown sleepover: 11/2 – 11/4. Cost will be $92/person. Final Payment will be due at our first Den Meeting on 8/28. If you are planning on attending, please email Amy A. And tell her how many boys/men and how many girls/women attending. Sleeping accommodations are gender separated. This event is open to the whole family.

Amy’s email address is agelak131@gmail.com

Next leader meeting

Our next meeting is a Leader Meeting on 6/12. It will be at 7pm in the Cub Scout room.

This is a very important meeting. We will be doing our schedule for the next 12 months. We will also be finalizing the budget.

The meeting is open to everyone. All committee members and leaders should attend if at all possible.

Resident Campsite assignment

We have been assigned Davy Crockett campsite. When you look at the map (available here camp map) Davy Crockett is the first site after the fork, on the right side.

Due to my cpap machine, we were given a site with AC power. I will have a power strip in my tent if you would like to recharge your cell phone.

Resident camp information

I have not been given our campsite assignment yet.  When I do I will post it here and on our FB group page.  It may be Tues night, 6/12 when I get the assignment.

All meals will be in the dining hall.  If you have any food allergies please let the camp counselor know at check-in.

Check-in will be at 2pm.  Please assemble at our assigned campsite at least 15 mins prior, as we will walk in a group to check-in.  The earliest you can arrive is noon, if you would like.  The first meal that will be served is Wed supper.

All tents must have a sign posted on it that reads “No Flames In Tent”.  This is a BSA rule, not the Pack’s.  If you are bringing your own tent, please bring that sign and some means to attach it to your tent.  If you forget, staplers will be available 🙂

Please remember to bring your health forms with you.  As a reminder, a health form is required for everyone, not just the scouts.  And it has to have Parts A, B, and C completed, which includes a doctor’s physical.

Forms and such.

Camp cards

Dear parents,

If you have not turned in your camp cards or money collected from camp cards, they are needed immediately. You may drop cards/money off at the home of Rob Dufresne or contact Terry Snider.

Rob’s address is
4401 Shattalon Drive
Winston, NC 27106

Resident Camp Health Forms

Everyone attending Resident Camp (scouts and parents) are required to have a completed health form. All 3 parts are required. That includes Part C, which requires a physician physical.

If you have any questions, please email me (michael.nebinger@gmail.com).

Dutch Oven Cooking

A lot of people think that cooking in a dutch oven must be hard.  It really isn’t!  Anything you can cook in your oven at home can be prepared in a dutch oven.  The main thing is to start with a seasoned dutch oven.  Most of the dutch ovens you will see for sale will be pre-seasoned, which will save you time.  Also, you can get parchment paper liners that will make cleanup a breeze.
