Rank Advancement Ceremony TONIGHT at 7pm (May 18)
Tonight is our final meeting of this scouting year! The ceremony will start at 7pm in the gym. Immediately after we will go outside for our Blue and Gold Kona Ice Social. All cub scouts and siblings in attendance will receive a free ice cup from the Kona truck in celebration of our scout’s achievements over the past year.
The Pack will arrange seating in the gym for the scouts, but we are asking family to bring a personal chair to sit in (leaders will be sanitizing church chairs afterward). Please also wear a mask and your full Class A’s this evening – pants, shirts, neckerchiefs, slides, and belts.

Pack Hike Tomorrow!
Hello Everyone. I hope you are all ready for the pack hike this Saturday, May 15th, at Stone Mountain State Park. We will meet at the Lower Trailhead parking lot at 9 am and start the hike by 9:15 am. We have been advised that the park fills up by 10am on weekends. The park staff will start to turn visitors back once the park is filled to capacity. We do not want our pack split in half so we are taking an early start to the day. It will seem like a long drive to get to correct parking lot, but you will not miss it on your left. There will also be signs for the Hutchinson Homestead, which we will hike past.
Stone Mountain is slightly over an hour’s drive from Winston, so please leave time in your morning to drive there. The address is 3042 Frank Parkway, Roaring Gap, NC 28668. The easiest way to get there is to take US 421 North towards Wilkesboro and then I-77 towards Elkin. Afterwards stay left and take US-21 towards Roaring Gap/Sparta. After entering the park, be sure to drive to the Lower Trailhead parking lot. Follow THIS LINK for specific directions found on the park’s website. The park’s phone number is 336-957-8185.
The trail is well maintained so athletic shoes should do well if you do not have a pair of hiking boots. Have your scout wear Class B (Scout related shirt). Please make sure to pack water and snacks since the hike will take approximately 2 hours. Alicia is providing trail mix, but you’re still encouraged to bring your own. The hike will end before noon so families are encouraged to bring a packed lunch and enjoy the rest of what the park has to offer. Restroom facilities are available at the Lower Trailhead parking lot.
If you do plan on coming please respond to this email with the names of each individual attending. If for any reason you need to get in contact with me on Saturday my phone number is 336-972-3929. I cannot guarantee cell service. Saturday’s forecast is looking partially sunny with a high of 73, however it will be cool in the morning so pack a light jacket. You will heat up quickly once we start so make sure to have a backpack to put your jacket and other materials in while hiking.
I look forward to seeing the scouts there. It should be a great time.
Michael Daniel
