Age 10 years or over: can go up alone.

If you have a child who wants to do Skywild, and you are for sure coming, please pay for your SKYWILD reservation by 9/7/22SkyWild Registration and Payment

Skywild group rate is $32 per person, and this ticket includes entry to the science center itself, you will not pay both. We have to have the signup by 9/7/22 so we can reserve our time slot (already looking at 1130 or later. If we have a small group of interested people, they could maybe fit us in at 0930). We need to book this ASAP.

General Admission: If you are NOT going to do Skywild, please arrive at 0900 for the group rate of $15 per person. Ages 2 and under are free (siblings welcome!), and if you have a membership, no need to pay again. We have to walk in together and pay as a group of at least 10 people for this rate. If you arrive late, you can still get in, but you’ll pay the normal individual rate. Pack 934 is subsidizing a part of the cost for this event.  Please pay for your ticket here

We will hike one mile in to a nice creek that the scouts can then stop and play in (it’s not deep). So put them in water shoes and suits. We will then hike back out the mile back to the parking lot.

July Hiking Club This Sunday!

The next optional hiking club hike will take place on July 24th, from 1030 AM until roughly 1230 PM. (I am aware that the email that went out said 1230am. We are not hiking for 14 hours!)

Location: Reynolda Gardens, and the Perimeter Trail.

Parking: 144 Reynolda Village, Winston-Salem, NC 27106, the parking lot behind the Barn at Reynolda Village.

Hike: We will meet at the old boat house by the walking trails, then start through the woods walking trails, and take the Perimeter Trail all around down near Coliseum, and Reynolda roads, coming up to Reynolda House, and Reynolda Gardens, and finally back down near parking area. There is also a waterfall bridge between Reynolda village and Wake Forest University that is nearby with a field to run around in if desired. Hope to see you there!

Last call for baseball!

If you’ve been sitting on the fence, but still want to join us at the Dash game on Friday, July 8, this is your last chance! Ticket sales for us END on July 4. Please remember – this is your ticket for entry; you MUST buy a ticket for the accompanying adult. Anyone is allowed to buy the scout ticket ($16), if you’d like the meal voucher and patch. The game starts at 7pm and will be followed by fireworks. After the game, the Dash will allow you to drive closer to the field to bring out your camping gear. You MAY NOT stake your tent on the field, so plan accordingly!

Hiking Club: First Hike This Sunday (June 26)

Hi Pack 934, we have an exciting new event series for everyone. This past year, the Lions Den and Tigers den trialed an OPTIONAL monthly hiking club. Most of our hikes are near Mt Tabor UMC within a roughly 20 minute driving radius. We are living the mantra of “There can be no scouting without outing”. We hold these hikes once a month, and if you are free you can come on out. Most will be on Sundays, as we have seen that Saturday games usually interfere far too much. Families are welcome too, as very few of the hikes we do are super difficult. The scouts really seem to enjoy them so far.
Have your scout bring the six essentials to hiking: Water (bring cold water, it will be hot in the summer hikes), trail food, sunscreen, a flashlight (just to get in the habit), a first aid kit (can be simple), and a whistle. If you don’t have a whistle, Rolf has a bag full of them he got and will give one whistle out to each scout’s first hike. We encourage the scouts to bring their own little backpack to store these items in and take responsibility over.
The first all-pack hike is this Sunday, June 26 at 1030 AM, starting at Hanes Park. They usually last for about 2 hours, and usually end with scouts playing together. 719 West End Blvd, Winston Salem, NC. This is an unusual one, in that we are doing a City Hike, to help teach the scouts how to safely navigate busy streets. More invites will come for future hikes as well. Again, these are all optional, and just a way to have a good time outdoors.

Thanks, -Pack 934 Committee
